How places are decided at Speldhurst Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1Looked after / previously looked after children — Children in Local Authority Care or previously in Local Authority Care... This also applies to children who immediately after being looked after became subject to an adoption, residence or special guardianship order, and to children adopted from state care outside of England (including IAPLACs).
2Current Family Association — A brother or sister in the same school at the time of entry where the family continue to live at the same address as when the sibling was admitted – or if they have moved – live within 2 miles of the school, or have moved to a property nearer to the school than the previous property as defined by the 'Nearness' criterion.
3Health and Special Access reasons — Medical, health, social and special access reasons applied in accordance with the school's legal obligations, particularly under the Equality Act 2010. Priority given to children with a demonstrable and significant need to attend, or whose parents'/guardians' health or social needs create such a need. Claims must be supported by written evidence from a suitably qualified practitioner demonstrating a special connection to the school.
4Nearness of child's home — Distance between the child's permanent home address and the school, measured in a straight line using the National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG) address point, with closest given higher priority.

If two applications tie: In the unlikely event that two or more children in all other ways have equal eligibility for the last available place at the school, the names will be issued a number and drawn randomly to decide which child should be given the place.

Document title covers admissions policy for the period 2026–2028; the exact single September entry year is not explicitly isolated, so 2026 (the first year of the stated period) has been used as cohort_start_year. Children with an EHCP naming the school are admitted before oversubscription criteria are applied, per document text, but this is not numbered as part of the ordered criteria list.

Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
