was the furthest place offered on offer day for 2026-27 (Reception). That is how far the last place reached in ONE year — not a boundary, and not a guarantee. It moves with the number of applicants, so treat it as a guide rather than a line on a map.
Last distance offered at Joy Lane Primary Foundation School, year by year →
When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: In the case of 2 or more applications that cannot be separated by the oversubscription criteria outlined above, the school will use the distance between the school and a child's home as a tie breaker to decide between applicants. Priority will be given to children who live closest to the school. Distance will be measured in a straight line from the child's home address. A child's home address will be considered to be where he/she is resident for the majority of nights in a normal school week. In the unlikely event that a child spends an equal number of days during a normal school week at two different addresses, we will use the address that is closest to the school.
Document also describes Oysters SRP (Autism), a specially resourced provision with separate eligibility criteria (not an ordered oversubscription list) commissioned by Kent County Council with 30 places; admission is via Local Authority SEN referral, not through the standard oversubscription criteria, so no ranked criteria list is included for this provision.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
