When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: In a tie-break situation within any of the criteria, the Council will give priority to pupils whose home is nearest the school via the shortest appropriate walking route, which will be measured using official maps, showing the catchment area boundaries that can be seen at the Learning Service or at the school. If there is any doubt, then the Council may arrange for the route to be measured in more detail.
Local-authority coordinated default oversubscription criteria for Isle of Anglesey County Council's community and voluntary-controlled schools (the council is the admission authority). Some community/voluntary-controlled schools in this authority apply catchment-area, feeder-school or priority-area variants — check the individual school for its exact arrangements. Secondary school criteria differ slightly, inserting an additional criterion (rank 6: pupils who attended a catchment-area primary school) before 'outside catchment'. The listed criteria above reflect the reception/primary default; secondary schools have a 7-point variant. St. Mary's Primary (voluntary aided) and Ysgol Sefydledig Caergeiliog (foundation) set their own arrangements and are excluded from this default.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
