Distance depends on the band here
Swakeleys School for Girls admits by banding: applicants are placed into bands and each band is filled separately, so there is no single last-offer distance. Each band has its own, and which one applies depends on your child's assessment — so one number could not answer this for every child.
How the bands work: All applicants sitting the assessment will be placed in one of nine bands, based on their NVR score. Within each band students will be ranked on the basis of the oversubscription criteria. The number admitted into each band will be such that the intake is representative of the national ability range. The number of places in each band will reflect the national statistics for the percentage of students in each band (from the most recent data available to the school) and therefore we do not expect the numbers within each band to be equal.
Your local authority’s admissions booklet publishes the cut-off for each band. The full ranked criteria are on the Admissions tab.
When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: If 2 girls are completely equal on the NVR score and there is only one place, it would be allocated on the distance criterion. If they are also equal on distance from the school, random allocation will take place. This will be carried out by a person independent of the school. This does not apply to multiple births.
Children with an Education, Health & Care Plan naming the school are admitted first, before the ordered oversubscription criteria (a-d) are applied. Girls not sitting the NVR assessment are only considered when the school is undersubscribed, and are then allocated in accordance with the oversubscription criteria after assessed applicants have been placed.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
