How places are decided at Ardeley St Lawrence Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1Looked After Children — Looked After Children and previously looked after children including those who appear (to the Governors) to have been in state care outside England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted (see definitions).
2Sibling currently attending — Children who have a sibling who is attending the school at the time of entry.
3Home address within ecclesiastical parish — Children who at the time of application have their home address within the ecclesiastical parish of Ardeley, as defined in the map on page 7.
4Attendance at Christian church (outside parish) — Children whose home address is outside the area as defined in Category 3 above but who have a parent or guardian who has, at the time of application, shown commitment to the Church of England or another Christian Church by attending a service of worship at least once in each calendar month for the year immediately prior to an application being made. Applicants in this category will need to ask their priest, minister or responsible official to complete the relevant section of the SIF.
5Early Years Pupil Premium or Pupil Premium — Children eligible for the Early Years Pupil Premium or Pupil Premium
6Sibling attended in the past — Children who have a sibling who has attended the school in the past

If two applications tie: Where there is a need for a tiebreaker where two different addresses measure the same distance from the school, in the case of a block of flats for example, the lower door number will be deemed to be nearest as logically this will be on the ground floor and therefore closer. If there are two identical addresses of separate applicants, the tie break will be random and independently verified. Every child entered onto the HCC admissions database has an individual random number assigned, between 1 and 1 million, against each preference school. When there is a need for a final tiebreak the random number is used to allocate the place, with the lowest number given priority.

Distance from address point of child's home to address point of school (closest wins) is the deciding factor when criteria result in equal ranking, prior to reaching the final tie-breaker described above.
