When there are more applications than places for 2026-27 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after / previously looked after children — Looked after children or children who were previously looked after (see (i) in Definitions as well as those children who appear (to the admission authority) to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted.)
2. 2Serious medical/physical/psychological condition — (For applicants in the normal admission round only) Children or families who have a serious medical, physical or psychological condition which makes it essential that the child attends the preferred school rather than any other. (Appropriate medical or psychological evidence must be provided in support.)
3. 3In catchment with sibling on roll — Children living in the catchment area of the College (see (ii) in Definitions) who at the time of application have a sibling (see (iii) in Definitions) on the roll of the College who will still be on roll at the time of admission. [See 5 for additional children who may be considered under this criterion.]
4. 4Other children in catchment — Other children living in the catchment area of the College.
5. 5Out of catchment with sibling on roll — Children living out of the catchment area of the College who at the time of application have a sibling (see (iii) in Definitions) on the roll College who will still be on roll at the time of admission. [Where a sibling was allocated a place at the College in the normal admission round in a previous year because the child was displaced (see (iv) in Definitions) from the catchment school for their address, the application will be considered under 3, above, subject to the siblings still living in the catchment area. In future normal admissions rounds a younger sibling will be considered to have been displaced where they were allocated a place at the College under this criterion as a consequence of their elder sibling's displacement and they remain living in the catchment area].
6. 6Out of catchment on roll of linked Junior/Primary School — Children living out of the catchment area of the College who are on the roll of a linked Junior or Primary School.
7. 7Children of staff out of catchment — Children of staff (see (v) in Definitions) living out of the catchment area of the College who have, (1) been employed at the school for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the school is made, or (2) have been recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.
8. 8Other children out of catchment — Other children living out of the catchment area of the College.

If two applications tie: If the College is oversubscribed from within any of the above categories, straight line distance will be used to prioritise applications; applicants living nearer the school have priority. Distances will be measured from the Ordnance Survey home address point to the College address point using Hampshire County Council's Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Distances to multiple dwellings will give priority to the ground floor over the first floor and so on. On individual floors, distances will be measured to the stairs leading to the communal entrance. Where two or more applicants are equidistant, random allocation will be used to allocate the place.

Criterion 2 (medical/physical/psychological condition) applies only to applicants in the normal admission round. EHCP children are admitted regardless of PAN where the plan names the school. Multiple births admitted together even if exceeding PAN.
