When there are more applications than places for 2026-27 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: All distances will be measured by the shortest walking distance from the front door of the building your home is within to the nearest recognised entrance of the school and measured using the Authority's digital mapping systems. Pupils from outside the Local Authority are treated no less favourably than those from Gwynedd when applying the distance criteria.
The Authority operates a catchment area policy and pupils normally attend the school in whose catchment area they reside. Each school has a defined catchment area; official maps showing the boundaries can be seen at the Education Office or in the individual schools. NOTE: the handbook's criterion 5 — pupils who attend a maintained primary school within the catchment area of the secondary school — applies ONLY to secondary applications and is therefore omitted from this primary list; the criteria are otherwise as printed and renumbered accordingly. Where a child spends time split between both parents, the home address is where the child spends the majority of the school week. Brother or sister includes half-siblings, step siblings, adoptive and foster children living in the same household. Twins and other multiple births: where the Authority can offer only some of the places required, parents may take up the places offered or keep them open until 31 August in the hope that other places become available from the waiting list. Places are offered to on-time applicants before any late application, even a late application from the catchment area.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
