Rednock School

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after and previously looked after children — A 'looked after child' (1) or a child who was previously looked after but immediately after being looked after became subject to an adoption (2), child arrangements order (3) or special guardianship order (4) including those who appear (to the admission authority) to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in care as a result of being adopted (5).
2. 2Sibling — Children who have a brother or sister currently attending the school, and where that sibling will also continue to be in attendance at Rednock when the applicant enters the school. (Sibling is defined as a brother or sister, half-brother or half-sister, adopted brother or adopted sister, step brother or step sister or the child of the parent / carer's partner and, in every case, the child must be living in the same family unit at the same address.)
3. 3Children of staff — Priority will be given to children of all staff at the school, in either of the following circumstances: i. The member of staff has been employed at the school for 2 (two) or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the school is made, and / or ii. The member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.
4. 4Priority catchment area — Children who live in the priority catchment area i.e. the parishes of Dursley, Cam, Coaley, Uley, Stinchcombe, Owlpen, Nympsfield, Slimbridge, Alkington, Ham & Stone, Berkeley, Sharpness, North Nibley and Hinton & Hamfallow. 5. 5Exceptional medical condition — Children for whom only this particular school is appropriate due to an exceptional medical condition. Applications under this criterion will only be considered if they are supported by a written statement from the child's doctor at the time of submitting the application. This must demonstrate that there is a very specific connection between medical need and the facilities or resources of this school. The final decision to accept a child under this category will be made by the governors' admission sub-committee through consultation with an independent medical practitioner.
6. 6Distance (geographical proximity) — In the event of oversubscription in any of the above criterion, places will be allocated to children with the strongest geographical claim, measured in a straight line from the ordnance survey point of the child's home address (including flats) to the ordnance survey point of the school, using the Local Authority's computerised measuring system, with those living closer to the school receiving the higher priority.

If two applications tie: In the event of a tie between 2 or more children on application – once criterion 5 has been followed - a process of random allocation will be followed by the School's Governing Body.

EHC Plans naming the school are allocated outside the oversubscription criteria. The school also participates in Gloucestershire's In-Year Fair Access Protocols, giving vulnerable children precedence over the waiting list. Sixth Form has a separate admission number of 275 (including 50 external places) with its own oversubscription criteria listed in Appendix 1.
