was the furthest place offered on offer day for 2026-27 (Year 7). That is how far the last place reached in ONE year — not a boundary, and not a guarantee. It moves with the number of applicants, so treat it as a guide rather than a line on a map.
Last distance offered at Lord Lawson of Beamish Academy, year by year →
When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: If, within any of the above criteria there are more applications submitted than places available at the school, priority will be given to children based on the distance they live from the school, measured ‘as the crow flies’ in a straight line from the centre of the home residence to the academy’s main entrance. Children living nearest to the school will have priority. Distance is measured using a geographical information system (GIS). Where two or more applicants share the exact same distance, a random allocation process will be used to determine the ranked order of the applications in question.
Point 1 requires written evidence from relevant registered health professionals for exceptional medical/social grounds claims; evidence considered by the Local Authority Pupil Placement Panel. Sibling link for sixth form requires the sibling to have been at the school at the start of Year 11. Document covers ages 11-19 but only provides one ordered oversubscription criteria list, applicable to normal Year 7 entry.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
