Distance depends on the band here
Emmanuel College admits by banding: applicants are placed into bands and each band is filled separately, so there is no single last-offer distance. Each band has its own, and which one applies depends on your child's assessment — so one number could not answer this for every child.
How the bands work: All applicants sit a non-verbal reasoning test that places them in one of nine ability bands, so the intake spans the full ability range. The test is for banding, not selection.
Your local authority’s admissions booklet publishes the cut-off for each band. The full ranked criteria are on the Admissions tab.
When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
See every school within walking distance, ranked by distance and inspection grade.
If two applications tie: Within all criteria, distance to school is used as a tie-breaker, with those living nearest to school given priority. Distances are measured 'as the crow flies' in a straight line from the main entrance of the child's home to the main entrance of the school, using GIS. Where two or more applicants share the same distance, random allocation will be used.
After admission of pupils with an EHCP naming Emmanuel College, places are offered in the order shown, within each ability band. Siblings of multiple birth: where one sibling achieves a place but others do not, the College will admit the twin/triplet(s) even if this exceeds PAN.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
