St Dympna's Primary School

When there are more applications than places for 2026-27 (P1), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Children of compulsory school age who have a sibling (*see note 2 below) attending St. Dympna’s Primary School at the time of application for Year One.
2. 2Children of compulsory school age whose parent/guardian is a permanent member of the school teaching/ancillary/auxiliary staff.
3. 3Children who are first in the family for whom St Dympna’s Primary School is the nearest maintained school within Dromore (measured using walking distance on Google maps).
4. 4Children of compulsory school age who have had brothers/sisters, half-brothers/half-sisters, fostered brothers/sisters or whose mother/father/guardian attended the school (evidence may be required).
5. 5Other children of compulsory school age. *Note 2 "Sibling" means a brother or sister and includes all children permanently sharing a common home. (Please note twins are treated as one application). In the event of over-subscription in anyone of the above criteria, then selection for all places remaining in this category will be on the basis of the initial letter of their surnames as per the birth certificate, in the order set out below. Mc D P H Mac V G C E I Z O J A M N B X T U W R F L S K Y Q This order was determined by a randomised selection of letters and is changed annually. In the event of the surname beginning with the same letter the subsequent letters of the surnames will be used in alphabetical order. In the event of two identical surnames the alphabetical order of the initials of the first names as on birth certificate will be used. YEAR 1 ADMISSIONS – AFTER THE BEGINNING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR Children who apply to enter the school during the academic year will be considered using the same criteria as for Year 1.

Northern Ireland open-enrolment admissions criteria, as published by the Education Authority for entry in September 2026.
