Bay Primary School

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after children / previously looked after children — All 'looked after children' or 'previously looked after children', including those from outside England.
2. 2Significant medical or social need — Those children with significant medical or social need.
3. 3Sibling — Children, with a sibling who will be attending the academy at the expected time of admission.
4. 4Children of staff — Children of staff based in the academy where the member of staff has been employed at the academy for 2 or more years at the time that the application is made for a place at the academy or the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.
5. 5Catchment area — Children whose parents reside within the catchment area of the academy at the time of application. See Appendix 1 for current catchment areas. Proof of residence will be required.
6. 6Geographical distance — Geographical distance, with priority given to those living nearest to the school. Criteria 6 will be used as a tie-breaker for other criteria if needed.

If two applications tie: Criteria 6 (geographical distance) will be used as a tie-breaker for other criteria if needed.

This is a Horizon Academy Trust multi-school document; criteria and PAN apply to Bay Primary School as one of several named trust schools, each with its own PAN as listed.

Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
