When there are more applications than places for 2026-27 (P1), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: Denominational primary schools rank catchment children as: (A) baptised Roman Catholic, parents declaring an affinity with the religious beliefs of the Roman Catholic Church, with older siblings at the school; (B) baptised and affinity declared, with additional support needs or a medical condition met only at the school; (C) baptised and affinity declared, no sibling, allocated on length of time the parent has been resident in the catchment; (D) non-Roman Catholic catchment children with older siblings at the school; (E) non-Roman Catholic children with additional support needs or a medical condition met only at the school; (F) non-Roman Catholic catchment children by distance between home and school, nearest first.
Every address has a primary and secondary catchment in both the denominational (Roman Catholic) and non-denominational sectors. Where a Roman Catholic school is oversubscribed by catchment pupils, priority within each category goes to children whose parents declare an affinity with the school's religious beliefs and hold a baptismal certificate. Children who cannot be accommodated at their catchment school are offered redirection to another local school. Proof of residency (council tax mandate, benefit statement or bank statement, a witnessed one-year tenancy where applicable) is required at registration and the Council investigates false addresses. A pupil at a primary by placing request must make a further placing request for its associated secondary.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
