When there are more applications than places for 2026-27 (P1), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: In denominational schools places within each priority category will be allocated first to children who have been baptised into the Roman Catholic Church, thereafter to other children. Where placing requests are received on time (by the first Monday in February) and there are more requests than spaces within a priority grouping, spaces are offered by reference to the shortest safe walking distance (DCC software system and GIS); for Priority 4 children, by the length of time enrolled in the associated primary school, longer enrolment first.
Waiting lists: refused Priority 1 children are listed in order of the date the placing request was made (closest walking distance on the same day); refused Priority 2-6 children on a separate list in priority order, then by distance (Priority 4 by length of enrolment at the associated primary). Time on the waiting list is not relevant. The Council reserves places in certain schools for children likely to move into the catchment. Dundee has 2 denominational secondary and 11 denominational primary schools, all Roman Catholic. A request to enrol at the catchment school after the closing dates for P1 or P7-S1 transfer is also made as a placing request.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
