When there are more applications than places for 2026-27 (S1), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
Reserved Places Policy: where there is no other school within a two-mile radius of a requested school (the nearest denominational school for denominational schools), one space in each class base is reserved for potential catchment pupils who may move in after enrolment. Parents who request a non-catchment school forfeit any place at their catchment school (P1 and S1 only) and are not eligible for transport assistance. Only one school may be applied for at a time; a refused child is added to the requested school's waiting list to the end of the school year, managed by the Council from 1 February until the summer recess and then by the school, not first-come first-served; catchment pupils moving in take priority over the waiting list. Temporarily closed (mothballed) schools have a designated replacement school.
