Prince Bishops Community Primary School

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

2. 2Looked after and previously looked after children — A previously looked after child is a child who immediately moved on from that status after becoming subject to an adoption order, a child arrangements order or a special guardianship order including those children who appear to the admission authority to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted.

5. 5A ‘special guardianship order’ is an order appointing one or more individuals to be a ch… — A ‘special guardianship order’ is an order appointing one or more individuals to be a child’s special guardian or guardians as defined under Section 14A of the Children’s Act 1989
6. 6Any other children — A child is regarded as having been in state care outside of England if they were in the care of or were accommodated by a public authority, a religious organisation or any other provider of care whose sole purpose is to benefit society. Priority 2 - Medical Reasons Children with very exceptional medical factors directly relating to a placement at West Park Academy. Applications under this criterion should be supported by written evidence from a doctor. (See explanation) Priority 3 - Family Links Children who have a brother or sister already attending the school and are expected to be on roll at the school at the time of admission. Priority 4 – West Park Academy Nursery Children who are transferring from lower foundation stage (Nursery) to upper foundation stage (Reception) will be given priority over children from other settings. Priority 5 - Distance Urban Wards of Darlington Borough Council - Pupils who live nearest the preferred school measured from the front door of the home address (including flats) to the main school gate, by the shortest walking route. This will be based on the home address of the child. To remain consistent, the Local Authority’s Geographical Information System will be used to measure all distances. The criterion when measuring a route is to identify the shortest route judged to be safe (safe is lit at regular intervals, paved/tarmacked). Explanations

Transcribed verbatim from the school's own published determined admission policy. A child with an Education, Health and Care Plan naming the school must be admitted; that is not an oversubscription criterion.

Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
