Distance did not decide places here
Every applicant who applied on time was offered a place for 2026-27 (Reception), so there was no cut-off distance. This changes from year to year; check the current year's figures before relying on it.
How places were offered at Deaf Hill Primary School, year by year →
When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: Where the last place to be allocated would mean that a multiple birth sibling group i.e. twins, triplets, or other multiple birth sibling groups, would be split, the sibling group will be given priority over other children. Otherwise, if only one final place can be offered and two applicants live equidistant from the school, the LA's system of random allocation will apply.
The document does not explicitly mention EHCPs being admitted first, though this is standard statutory practice. The admission authority is Ad Astra Academy Trust; Durham County Council administers the process on its behalf. Sibling defined as children who live as brother or sister in the same house, including natural, half, adopted, step siblings and children of the parent/carer's partner. Distance measured by shortest walking route using OS ITN/UPN via GIS from centre point of child's home to nearest school site entrance.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
