When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: Within EACH of criteria 3, 4 and 5 the local authority applies a two-step order: first a sibling at the school in the relevant year range, then proximity measured by the shortest available walking route from the place of ordinary residence to the nearest openly accessible school gate. If the last place is offered to a multiple birth child, the local authority will also admit the other sibling/s.
Bridgend nests the sibling test INSIDE each catchment criterion rather than ranking siblings separately — so a sibling only helps against other families in the same catchment band. There is no right to, or guarantee of, an offer of a place at a child's catchment area school. Catchment areas are subject to change following consultation. The local authority will only exceed the published admission number in exceptional circumstances.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
Same phase, ranked by distance and how closely they match.
