When there are more applications than places for 2026-27 (S1), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

The Council may by Chief Officer approval disapply the admission criteria and place a child directly in a particular school in exceptional circumstances such as child protection. A pupil at a primary school by placing request must make a further placing request for its associated secondary. Condorrat Primary hosts a Primary Gaelic Medium Education Unit (applications direct to the school) with GME continuing at Greenfaulds High School. Planning capacity for placing requests at secondary schools is 75% of functional capacity (80% at Dalziel High). A statutory consultation on an amended admissions policy (proposed ranked priorities: specialist request, then baptism at denominational schools or older siblings, within catchment / North Lanarkshire / outwith bands) closed on 21 August 2026; the amended policy was not yet adopted for this round.
