Burton Church of England Primary School

When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Looked after and previously looked after children — “Looked after children” or “previously looked after children”, including children who appear to have been in state care outside of England.
2. 2Exceptional medical or psychological need — Children who BCP Council accepts have an exceptional medical or psychological need and where there is a need for a place at one specific school. Written advice from an NHS consultant, or an NHS consultant psychiatrist for psychological grounds, must be included with the application.
3. 3Catchment-area siblings — Children who live in the school's catchment area who have a sibling who is already on the roll of the school and will continue to attend the school at the time of admission.
4. 4Catchment-area feeder school — Children living within the school's catchment area who are attending a recognised feeder school and are on that school's roll at the time of application. This applies to Mudeford Infant and Junior Schools only.
5. 5All other children in the catchment area — All other children who live in the school's catchment area.
6. 6Out-of-catchment siblings — Children who live outside the school's catchment area who have a sibling who is already on the roll of the school and will continue to attend the school at the time of admission.
7. 7Out-of-catchment feeder school — Children living outside the school's catchment area who are attending a recognised feeder school and are on that school's roll at the time of application. This applies to Mudeford Infant and Junior Schools only.
8. 8Denominational grounds — Children living outside the school's catchment area whose parents wish them to attend a Church of England voluntary controlled school on denominational grounds. This applies to Burton C of E Primary School only.
9. 9Children of staff — Children of staff where the member of staff has been employed for two or more years at the school applied for at the time the application is made, or who have been recruited to a vacancy to meet a demonstrable skills shortage, and who still intend to be employed at the school at the time of the child's admission.
10. 10All other children outside the catchment area — All other children who live outside the school's catchment area.

If two applications tie: If a school is oversubscribed in any of the categories above, children in that category who live closest to the school are given priority.

BCP Council is the admission authority for its community and voluntary controlled schools and publishes one policy for them all. Six of the ten priorities turn on the school's CATCHMENT AREA, which BCP publishes as a per-school map. Two priorities are school-specific: the feeder-school steps apply only to Mudeford Infant and Junior Schools, and the denominational step only to Burton C of E Primary School.
