Distance did not decide places here
Every applicant who applied on time was offered a place for 2026-27 (Reception), so there was no cut-off distance. This changes from year to year; check the current year's figures before relying on it.
How places were offered at Yorkmead Junior and Infant School, year by year →
When there are more applications than places for 2026-27 (Reception), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: Within each of the categories above, priority is given to those who live nearest to the school, measured in a straight line from the child’s home address to a designated point on the school premises.
Birmingham City Council is the admission authority for community and voluntary controlled schools. Criteria as determined for September 2026 entry, para 1 (standard community/VC). Tie-breaker: Within each of the categories above, priority is given to those who live nearest to the school, measured in a straight line from the child’s home address to a designated point on the school premises. Any child with an Education, Health and Care Plan naming the school is admitted first; this is not an oversubscription criterion. | Previously recorded here: Reception offer-day allocation by criterion: Birmingham council primary offers 2026 (distances in metres, straight line).
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
