How places were offered at King Edward VI Aston School, year by year →
When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 7), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
If two applications tie: In a very small number of cases it may not be possible to decide between the applications of those pupils who are the final qualifiers for a place, when applying the published admission criteria. For example, this may occur when children in the same year group live at the same address, or where there are twins, or if the distance between the home and school is exactly the same, for example, blocks of flats. If there is no other way of separating the application according to the admissions criteria and to admit both or all of the children would cause the admission number to be exceeded, the local authority will use a computerised system to randomly select the child to be offered the final place.
Where the school has been named on a child's EHCP the child will be admitted; the school expects cogent evidence that the child's ability is of the requisite academic standard evidenced by achieving the qualifying score, but this is stated to not be an oversubscription criterion and the Admission Number reduces accordingly. A 'priority score' (higher than qualifying score) applies within catchment (criterion 4). Catchment area consists of specified electoral wards in Birmingham and Solihull. Pupil Premium eligibility form must be submitted before the day of the entrance test.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
