When there are more applications than places for 2027-28 (Year 3), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.
Determined oversubscription criteria for Birmingham community and voluntary controlled junior schools (Year 2 to Year 3 transfer) for September 2027 entry, transcribed verbatim from the council’s determined arrangements. Within each category, priority is given to those who live nearest to the school, measured in a straight line from the child’s home address to a designated point on the school premises. A child with an Education, Health and Care Plan naming the school must be admitted; that is not an oversubscription criterion. Admission to a nursery school or class gives no priority or additional right to transfer to Reception — a separate application must be made.
Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
