St Colman's (Bann) Primary School

When there are more applications than places for 2026-27 (P1), places are offered in this order of priority. Meeting a higher criterion beats meeting a lower one.

1. 1Children who reside in the Parish of Tullylish and children for whom St Colman’s Bann Primary School is the nearest suitable school. (Please note, a clearly defined map of the Parish of Tullylish is available from the school office on request and distance is measured using the driving mode on Google Maps.)
2. 2Children who, at the date of the application, have a child of the family currently enrolled at the school.
3. 3Children who, at the date of their application, are the eldest child of the family to be eligible to apply for admission to the school. (Confirmation letter may be requested from one of the following: a member of the Clergy, Solicitor, or Public Servant such as a Health visitor or Education professional to include a pre-school/ Nursery
4. 4Children who, at the date of their application, have a parent or guardian who are a permanent employee of the school.
5. 5Children whose parent or legal Guardian are former pupils of St Colman’s Bann Primary School. (Parents should include their full name at the time of attendance and dates they were a pupil of the school).
6. 6Children with special circumstances (social, medical or security). The special circumstances must be made known at the time of application, preferably in writing. The Board of Governors reserves the right to seek confirmation of the special circumstances from a statutory body. In the event of the application of the above criterion and there still being an oversubscription, Criteria 7 will be used.
7. 7Children will be selected for admission on the basis of initial letter(s) of surname (as entered on Birth Certificate) in the order set out below: N H E C X B G T W S Y L Mc K O A Q D I V M Z F R P Mac U J In the event of surnames beginning with the same initial letter the subsequent letters of the surname will be used in the order previously set out. In the event of two identical surnames the order of the initials of the forenames will be used in the order above. In the event that children have the exact same full name, children will then be selected on the basis of date of birth (as entered on Birth Certificate), prioritising the eldest child. In the highly unlikely event that both combinations detailed above are not effective, children will be selected randomly, in a manner in which a clear audit trail is clearly visible.

Northern Ireland open-enrolment admissions criteria, as published by the Education Authority for entry in September 2026.

Published by the admission authority. Meeting a criterion never guarantees a place — it sets the order places are offered in. Full detail, other entry points and previous years are on the Admissions tab.
